Juvenile Dies After Apparent Self-Inflicted Shooting On Edgedale Drive In Dallas

A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in South Dallas, according to police and the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dallas Police officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 4:10 p.m. in the 600 block of Edgedale Drive, in an area just north of West Wheatland Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the juvenile had suffered a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Investigating as Self-Inflicted Shooting

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as a 16-year-old female.

Dallas police said the shooting is being investigated as self-inflicted. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the death.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police had initially reported only that a juvenile had been shot and killed and had not released the victim’s age. Further information was provided by the medical examiner as the investigation continued.
