Dozens of “Little Hut Libraries” will be distributed across the country.
It’s to celebrate October, which is also known as National Book Month and National Pizza Month.
For more than 40 years, Pizza Hut, which is headquartered in Plano, has hosted its BookIt program to increase summer reading minutes for kids. The more you read, the more free pizza and prizes you get. Now, they have teamed up with Little Free Library to give away 24 customized little libraries.
“Pizza Hut has always been about more than pizza; it’s about the memories and moments that happen around it,” Melissa Friebe, Chief Marketing Officer at Pizza Hut U.S., said. “Our red roofs and BOOK IT! are two iconic pieces of Pizza Hut history, and we’ve long admired Little Free Library’s mission to bring books to communities across the country. Little Hut Libraries bring our shared passion for reading to life in a uniquely Pizza Hut way, putting more books into communities, all under our beloved red roof.”
Little Free Library is a Minnesota-based nonprofit inspiring readers with expanded access to books on a global scale. They do that through their network of volunteer-led Little Free Library book-exchange boxes.
According to the Little Free Library website, the custom Pizza Hut-themed book-sharing boxes will be placed across the U.S. Each “Little Hut Library” book-exchange box will be stocked with a starter bundle of 25 new books selected and supplied by Little Free Library, as well as a pack of Pizza Hut and BOOK IT! goodies, including a select quantity of Personal Pan Pizza® gift cards while supplies last, giving readers the chance to enjoy a free pizza as they participate in the book exchange— to the iconic BOOK IT! experience generations have loved.
Applications are open now through October 31. Selected applicants will be notified by November 10, 2026, and 24 no-cost custom library packages will be shipped out.
