A strengthening El Niño could bring warmer and potentially drier winter conditions in India, affecting rabi crops such as wheat, mustard and pulses. While this does not mean winter will disappear, unusual temperatures and low soil moisture could hurt crop yields, tighten supplies and push food prices higher.
